In a written statement, the Board of Directors of the Chamber "condemns in the strongest and most unequivocal way the unprecedented Turkish provocation to open the coastal front of Varosia. The third Attila entered our homes, our properties, our city ".
It added that the EVEA "has been sending letters to the UN for weeks now, to the ambassadors of the permanent members of the Security Council as well as to the embassies of Europe, calling for the application of international law and the return of the besieged city to its legal inhabitants."
According to the statement, "the efforts of the Famagustans, including a large number of companies and the Famagusta Chamber of Commerce and Industry to return to Famagusta, are constantly faced with the refusal of the Turkish side, despite numerous EU decisions and resolutions, other international organizations, actions that escalate tensions and undermine the possibility of a resumption of peace talks. "
The EVEA demands "that international law be applied immediately and that Turkey comply immediately with UN Security Council Resolutions 550 and 789. and European Parliament resolutions on the return of the city to its rightful inhabitants. We call on the European Union to which we belong to protect us, finally applying European law. "
It is also noted that "the Chamber of Famagusta and the CCCI have already informed in letters all the international organizations involved in this unacceptable and provocative action of Turkey."
