Minister of Labor's visit to EBEA: "Aim to staff the market properly so that there are no problems"

The Minister noted that the time frame needed to secure the permit to hire labor from third countries has been reduced

On Friday 1/3/2024 the Minister of Labor and Social Insurance, during his visit to the province of Famagusta, visited the offices of EBEA where he attended a meeting with representatives of businessmen in the area as well as with representatives of organized associations and groups. The President of KEBE, Mr. Stavros Stavrou, also attended the meeting.

Topics that occupied the meeting were the labor problems faced by the business world of the Famagusta District and which hinder it in the smooth operation of its activities.

The problem of finding manpower was particularly emphasized, which is related, among other things, to the processing of time-consuming and bureaucratic procedures to secure the relevant license for hiring manpower from third countries.

The Mr. Minister noted that the time frame needed to secure the relevant license has been reduced, while he expressed the certainty that in the next period there will be further related improvement and expressed optimism that there will be staffing where necessary.

The goal, he said, is to staff the market properly so that there are no problems in the development of the economy.

The Minister analyzed the government's policy on the above issues and answered other questions that occupied the meeting.

At the end of the meeting, the President of the Chamber, Mr. Charalambos Manolis, thanked the Minister and the President of the KEBE for their presence, expressing his satisfaction for the meeting which proved to be constructive and useful for all sides.
