It is the duty of the people of Famagusta and the state to support the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Famagusta (EVEA), the sports clubs and institutions of the occupied city, said the President of the Chamber Augustinos Papathomas.
A written announcement of EVEA states that the President of the Chamber was speaking at a gathering that took place recently in a hall of the Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium, which was attended by members and friends of EVEA who are active in the city and province of Larnaca.
Mr. Papathomas “thanked the attendees for their presence and their timeless support to the Chamber of Famagusta. EVEA is a member (CCCI) and represents the business world of the city and province of Famagusta, free and occupied since its founding in 1952 ".
He added that "it is the duty of all the people of Famagusta, but also of the State to support the Chamber, as well as the sports clubs and institutions of the occupied city and province of Famagusta, in order to prevent the extermination and assimilation of the refugee world so clearly threatened by many years in exile ”.
He also stated that "we brought EVEA with us when we left Famagusta in 1974 and we are looking forward to taking it back to the city on our return".
According to the announcement, the meeting was attended by, among others, the Presidents and members of the BoD. of Anorthosis and Nea Salamina, deputies, the President of the Bar Association of Famagusta and the vice-president of the CCCI.
Attendees made suggestions "for the better coordination of the organized bodies of the city and the preparation of an action plan, with the main goal of defending the well-understood interests of all Famagusta, but also to preserve the Famagusta identity, which unfortunately and from within. The attendees also exchanged thoughts, opinions and concerns concerning the business world, while also looking back on memories from their common past ".
The Board of EVEA "honored the refugee associations of the city that played in the Pancyprian football championship of category A, Anorthosis on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the explosion of the Association in Famagusta and Nea Salamina for its 70 years of life".
