An unspeakable tragedy struck the Avgorou Community. 32-year-old Mattheos Giorgalli breathed his last at the "Papanikolou" Hospital.
According to what the General Director of the Ministry of Health, Christina Giannaki, also reported on Omegalive, everything started when the family of the 32-year-old contacted her on 05/07/2023 to inform her that the 32-year-old was hospitalized in a very serious condition at the Hospital of Thessaloniki. The 32-year-old went to Thessaloniki with his friends to be a bachelor.
Ms. Giannaki immediately contacted the director of the "Papanikolou" Hospital in Thessaloniki, to whom a request from the Ministry of Health was submitted to transfer him to the Trans-Balkan Hospital, to receive care from the neurosurgeon there.
Due to the fact that the patient had intracerebral, intra-abdominal and arachnoid bleeding, it was decided that the specific transfer to the Trans-Balkan could not be carried out.
Although the Ministry of Health's request had been accepted, however, due to the criticality of the patient's condition, it was deemed unsafe to transfer to the Trans-Balkan.
Yesterday morning, the "Papanikolou" Hospital informed Mrs. Giannaki that the 32-year-old showed no signs of brain function.
Unfortunately, this morning our 32-year-old compatriot ended up in the hospital.
At this moment, the Director of the Ministry of Health is in constant communication with Thessaloniki to arrange the repatriation of the body of the 32-year-old.
The unfortunate 32-year-old leaves behind a wife and two minor children, two years and six months old.
The Ministry of Health and the Government express their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.
