Η nunnery of Agios Kendeas is located in the northeast of the village Avgorou on a low hill to the south of the old road Nicosia - Famagusta. It is mentioned as a monastery by him Archimandrite Kyprianos. Probably in the time of Kyprianos (1788) the monastery had only two - three monks.
As can be seen from the registration of his property, which became the 1773 under Archbishop Chrysanthos, the monastery of Agios Kendeos was very poor. How poor the monastery was can be seen from the few cells that survived until thirty years ago.
It is unknown when the monastery was built. The oldest part of it is small single-aisled vaulted church dimensions 11 X 4 m. including the semicircular arch, located on the north side of the monastery.
Originally the church was decorated with Wall paintings as seen from the remains of frescoes on the south wall to the west of the south entrance of the temple. Although the murals were not preserved in good condition, the fresco of the archangel Michael which survived in better condition, could be dated to 15th or 16th century. The church can also be dated to this time. On the contrary, the two rooms on the south side of the monastery were not older than the 18th century.
To the west of the monastery in a small valley is the "Holy water" of Agios Kendeas named by the inhabitants of Avgoros "Refuge". This is a cave measuring 4 x 2,5 m. Into which one descends with three steps. A door was placed in the cave in later years.
As the name suggests, this is probably cave in which he practiced Saint Kendeas, which mentions his synaxari.
