The first day of the celebrations for the 200th anniversary of the National Polygenesis has come to an end.
The highlight of the evening, which had important speeches and a great artistic program with dances, songs and recitations of poems, came with the representation of the battle of Ayia Napa that took place in 1826.
The battle according to written reports was between Greeks of the Revolution and Turkish guards of Ayia Napa - Famagusta, with about 200 Greek Rebels disembarking from twenty Greek ships and engaged in a battle against the Turkish Guards of Ayia Napa and the Turkish Fence with Aycho result to be the victory of the Greek revolutionaries.
