The amusement park in Ayia Napa is reopening normally, one month after the accident that occurred and resulted in the serious injury of a mother and child. However, the swinging cots in which the incident occurred no longer exist on the playground.
The timeline of the accident
The incident occurred a month ago. Specifically on April 12, 2019 and around 21:30 in the evening, mother and son went to the amusement park to have fun. They had come into play with swinging swings. At one point, under the circumstances under investigation, the crib in which he was sitting hit a metal stake violently, resulting in serious injuries. This is the toy with the rotating cradles, type "Star Flyer", when the seat in which the son was riding with the mother, hit a stake.
The two injured were initially taken to a private clinic in Ayia Napa. Due to the seriousness of their condition, they were taken to a specialized clinic in Limassol. The seven-year-old had an open wound in his right leg and was in danger of amputation. The mother had a bruise on her knee, a fracture in her right arm and a craniocerebral injury.
The amusement park covered all the costs of care
The amusement park where the accident took place is located on a busy boulevard in Ayia Napa. This is one of the largest amusement parks in Cyprus, which has been operating since 1999. In its 20 years of operation it is the first time such an incident has occurred. The owner of the amusement park stated that all the costs of care for both the mother and the child will be paid by the company. The amusement park has dozens of toys and hosts thousands of visitors every day, especially in summer.

It is recalled that the Director of the Ministry of Health, Christina Giannaki herself visited her mother and son in the polyclinic that was treated after the incident.
