Seven tourists from Great Britain, Norway, Switzerland and Russia were named "Tourism Ambassadors" of Ayia Napa for their multiple visits to the area.

In a written announcement from the Municipality, it is stated that a ceremony was held on Tuesday, October 25 at the Municipal Hall of Ayia Napa, during which seven persons from Great Britain, Norway and Russia were declared "Tourism Ambassadors" of Ayia Napa. They are the couple Michael John and Deborah Oliver from Great Britain, with 30 visits, Liliane Born from Switzerland who made 60 visits, the couple Knut Eivind and Helga Britt May Persen from Norway with 48 visits and the Russians Maria Aksenova, Svetlana Plotnikova, with 25 visits each".

The Mayor of Agia Napa, Christos Zannettou, said during the ceremony that "the special preference of visitors to the area is a great honor for the Municipality. The minimum honor that the Municipality could do in return for the great and practical love that visitors have for Ayia Napa is to declare them "Tourism Ambassadors".

Mr. Zannettou added that "our goal is to implement public utility projects that will upgrade the tourist product and the standard of living of Ayia Napa, so that we can offer all the comforts as well as experiential experiences to our visitors".

He also noted that "with the awarding of the highest distinction of the Municipality, the seven people are now considered citizens of Ayia Napa and not just visitors".
