The original "Recycled", work of the famous artist Apostolos Pantelis and sponsor of the pharmaceutical company Medochemie now dominates the beach "Landa", in Ayia Napa. This ecological gem already adorns the beaches of the "Limassol Nautical Club", the "Baths" in Paphos and the "Finikoudes" in Larnaca, sending the message of integrating plastic recycling into our daily lives.

The "Recycling" installation ceremony took place on Friday, July 17, in the presence of the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Christos Zannettos and representatives of the Medochemie company.
According to recent studies, plastics make up 95% of the garbage found in the Mediterranean Sea, which then, through the food chain, end up in the human body, with serious risks to our health. This situation leads with mathematical precision to the extinction of millions of marine animals and the destruction of microorganisms, which produce more than 10% of the oxygen we breathe.
According to the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection and Energy Saving of Medochemie, Dr. Christakis Sergidis, with this action, Medochemie and the Municipality of Ayia Napa join forces in the fight against pollution of the Mediterranean, which day by day, from a center of unique environmental heritage, it is transformed into a "plastic" sea.
At the same time, he sent a message to all to become supporters of the efforts made by local authorities, companies and organizations for the protection of the seas and the planet, by adopting innovative actions, such as "Recycling".
At the same time, Mr. Sergidis called on the state to contribute to the creation of environmental awareness and culture in young children by implementing appropriate education from kindergartens, thus putting a brake on the irreparable destruction of our ocean ecosystem.
It is worth noting that Medochemie, in order to protect the health of citizens, will continue to install new innovative recycling projects on other beaches in Cyprus, always in cooperation with local authorities and competent bodies.
In his greeting, the Mayor Mr. Christos Zannettou said that the Municipality of Ayia Napa is particularly aware of issues of environmental protection and referred to a series of actions that the Municipality has implemented or plans to implement.
