The dispute of the former licensed services (holders of licenses for placing beds and umbrellas) on the beaches of Ayia Napa with the Municipality ended in favor of the Municipality of Ayia Napa.
The Administrative Court acquitted the Municipality of Ayia Napa in the appeal filed in 2014 against it by the then licensees after the decision of the Municipality to take over the management of the beaches.
Mr. Giannis Karousos stressed after the decision:
"The court ruling is a great justification. Our decision to take over the management of the beaches was the most important decision taken by the Municipal Council since we became a Municipality. The Municipal Council dared and was vindicated. This decision brings to the funds of the Municipality about 3.5 million euros per year, created new jobs and put order on the beaches since now there is uniformity, free spaces and many other advantages ".
