After more than half a century, the antennas that were installed in the 1970s by the French company SOMERA after a relevant agreement signed with the Cyprus Radio Foundation for the broadcasting of telecommunication, television and radio programs are from Cape Greco Cape. The demolition of a total of seven antennas, 132 meters high, was undertaken by the company GKARAS & ASSOCIATES - ARCHITECTS - CIVIL ENGINEERS. The demolition was done by mechanical means, since the antennas were placed in concrete.

The removal of the antennas was a timeless request of the local authorities and the residents of Ayia Napa - Paralimni, since due to their operation all these years there were occasionally expressed concerns about serious issues concerning the health of residents, but also environmental issues. Now, with the removal of the antennas, further landscaping of the Cape Greco area is planned for the purpose of attracting local and foreign visitors.

It is worth noting that in the past the Municipality of Ayia Napa, at the urging of various environmental organizations, had made its own measurements in the area where the high antennas were installed, which showed that the radiation at various frequencies reached up to 1930 times more than the limit affecting human health.
