The Municipality of Ayia Napa proceeds to increase and upgrade the greenery in the entire area of the Municipality, by replacing plants, trees or shrubs where they have worn out and placing trees where there is no greenery. In total, 15,000 trees will be planted that will change the image of Ayia Napa.

This initiative of the Municipality of Ayia Napa came after a survey conducted among citizens, tourists and businessmen about the problems they face in their daily lives in Ayia Napa.

Following the results of the research, the issue of greenery was evaluated as the highest priority by the Municipality and the Municipal Council approved a plan by experts to strengthen the greenery of Ayia Napa.

The Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Giannis Karousos stressed: “In the coming months, more than 15,000 trees will enhance the greenery on the seafront, in parks and squares and in many other places where there is no greenery today. Every year we listen very carefully to our citizens, our tourists, but also to the entrepreneurs about the problems they face and we set the respective priorities. Our goal of the year is for everyone to be much happier than the green in Ayia Napa ".

The 15,000 and more trees that will be planted have been ordered by the Department of Forests and these are trees that are resistant to the temperatures prevailing in Cyprus and the whole program is under the supervision of a qualified agronomist.

Recently, the city of Ayia Napa was awarded the Green Flag for 2018 with the Green Flag by the Cyprus Center for Environmental Research and Education for the ecological initiatives it undertook and brought to success.

The goal of Ayia Napa is to be in practice a "green" city and to achieve this goal many similar actions will be carried out.
