The Municipality of Ayia Napa declares that it is determined to ban the circulation of four-wheelers and large-capacity motorcycles. The goal, according to Giannis Karousos, is to fight noise pollution and nuisance.

The Municipality of Ayia Napa is expected to make a decision in order to fight the nuisance and noise pollution caused by large-capacity and four-wheeled motorcycles, the well-known "pigs".

This decision came after a large survey conducted on citizens, businessmen and tourists, who stressed that this is the main problem they face.

"We as a Municipality," said the Mayor of Ayia Napa, "for the last two years have been conducting a survey called a barometer of citizens, visitors and businesses." One of the problems that exist is noise pollution from four-wheelers, one of them. The noise pollution created by motorcycles. ”

On March 20, the deadline for submission of opinions by citizens and by the directly affected businessmen expired.

In the coming days, the Municipal Council is expected to evaluate the proposals to make its final decision, which will provide, among other things, the issuance of a decree of universal ban on traffic in specific areas and times of the day.

In his statements, Giannis Karousos in Sigma stated: "We certainly do not want to close any tourism sector but we want there to be a significant improvement in the issue of nuisance caused by these vehicles which is the nuisance, it is the bad and dangerous driving is the noise pollution that is caused by the many accidents, we have to find solutions."

According to the Mayor of Ayia Napa, this decision is part of the Municipality's strategy to upgrade the product offered and create repeat tourists.
