Emad Hassan, Advisor to the Minister of Tourism of Egypt, expressed his satisfaction with the progress made in relation to the works in the marina of Ayia Napa, who with journalists and a group of tourist agents of his country, visited today the place where the project is being built.

In his statements, Stavros Karamontanis, CEO of MM Makronissos, stated that "due to the good relations between Cyprus and Egypt, in political and energy level but also in tourism issues, the Advisor to the Minister of Tourism of Egypt Emad Hassan, representatives of the Media and "Egyptian travel agents are visiting the Ayia Napa Marina today to see the progress of the projects."

He added that "the main purpose of the visit is to promote tourism and the tourism product of Cyprus. "We note that the main investor in the Ayia Napa marina, Nagip Sawiris, is of Egyptian origin and is one of the biggest names in the business world both in Egypt and internationally." He also said that "the Sawiris family invests in many countries in Europe and Africa, but also in the United States and Australia, as well as in Egypt itself."

"It is with great pleasure that we are hosting today the delegation of the Egyptian Tourism Organization in the marina of Ayia Napa to show them the progress of the projects and the stage at which the construction part is, which is proceeding according to the schedules we have set. It is estimated that in June 2019 we will be able to receive the first boats and open the commercial zone, so that the first tenants can reach the marina of Ayia Napa ", he said.

He also mentioned that when the first phase of the marina is delivered, we will accept the first boats while its commercial use will be ready. "In 2020 the first houses will be delivered, while in 2021 the whole project will be delivered, always according to the schedules" he said and noted that "the sales of the units are on a very good path, we are very satisfied with the interest of the investors Cypriots as well as foreigners. Until today, everything is going well and we are sure that the marina of Ayia Napa will put on the map again Cyprus and the province of Famagusta, which needs this project very much ".

At the same time, Mr. Karamontanis continued, "we see other investments being made by both foreign and Cypriot businessmen in the region, while the local authorities are always in good agreement with us and the investor. We are satisfied with the fact that the investment is proceeding smoothly and according to the schedules ".

For his part, Emad Hassan, Advisor to the Minister of Tourism of Egypt, said that "a group of journalists and travel agents from Egypt are here because of the tripartite agreement between Egypt, Cyprus and Greece to promote economic cooperation between the three countries, covering electricity, agriculture, communications and tourism ".

He added that "we visited Cyprus to see if we could work together on a cruise that will start from the Mediterranean and pass through the Suez Canal."

We are discussing, he said, with the Cyprus Tourism Organization, whom he thanked for the hospitality, and said that it is his first trip to Cyprus. Cyprus is very beautiful and its people are very good, he said, adding that he visited Limassol, Nicosia and now Ayia Napa.

He noted that one of the most important businessmen in Egypt, Nagip Sawiris, is investing in this project, and expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project and the hope that in time the marina will be operational.
