The Mayor of Ayia Napa inaugurated the shelter of the "Winter Swimming Club of the Municipality of Ayia Napa".
The Mayor of Ayia Napa today, Wednesday, December 28, 2022, inaugurated the shelter of the "Agia Napa Municipality Winter Swimmers Group", which the Municipality has recently erected on Makronisos beach.
In his statements, Mr. Zannettou stated that the promise made exactly one year ago by him to the Board of Directors of the Group has come true and today "we are happy together with the Organized Winter Swimmers in this space, which offers all the necessary facilities for the people who honor us by participating in this daring 'sport', winter swimming'.
We also managed, he added, that Makronisos beach is staffed with lifeguards in the winter season as well so that safety is provided to people swimming in the sea throughout the year.
"Besides making Makronisos beach one of the best beaches for winter swimming" he emphasized "our ultimate goal is the further development of a different interest such as winter swimming, which in recent years is the new, rising trend something which it will contribute to attracting tourists in the winter and by extension to the extension of the tourist season.
He also assured that the Municipality will continue to provide facilities at the "Makronisos" beach, which will serve both tourism and the citizens by upgrading their standard of living and support the Association in various ways.
Finally, he expressed his warm thanks to the Board of Directors and the Members of the Club as well as to all the winter swimmers for the perfect and kind cooperation as well as for the fact that they are fellow travelers in the effort made by the Municipality for the implementation of various actions and projects .
Both the President of the Club Andreas Larkou, as well as the Secretary Tasoula Gerasimos as well as all the members of the Club warmly thanked the Mayor for holding the inauguration, for his continuous support and for everything that the Municipality has done to date towards "΄ Club of Winter Swimmers", expressing at the same time their confidence that the cordial cooperation and communication channels that have started in the last three years between the Club and the Municipality will continue.
As a sign of appreciation for the Mayor of Agia Napa, the Secretary Tasoula Gerasimos offered him a commemorative gift on behalf of the Group.
