The Municipal Library of Deryneia currently has 12.000 volumes of books and is constantly enriched.
There are dialect books for education, research, entertainment, and a large collection of children's books.
It is open all year round, only in the afternoons, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. In the winter season (October - April) the opening hours are 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. and the summer season (May - September) 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Library Operating Regulations
- Books are borrowed for 21 days.
- If a book is not requested by another reader, the loan can be renewed for another 21 days.
- Up to 3 books can be borrowed from the reader during the same period.
- Books must be returned clean and on the date on the back of the book.
- Encyclopedias, dictionaries and other information books are not borrowed and those interested should spend time studying the above in the hall of the Municipal Library.
- Adult members pay a token annual fee of € 20. (excluding students, soldiers and pupils)
The Library is often visited by students who find enough material for the work, studies, research they undertake.
The Municipal Library of Deryneia regularly receives visits from schools for students' contact with books and the Library. Through planned tours, children are informed about the operation of a library and its regulations. Through book fairs, children's programs and other events, the Municipal Library of Deryneia contributes to the development of culture not only for Deryneia but also for the wider region.
