A case will be filed tomorrow before the Famagusta District Court against six people, aged 41, 22, 29, 21, 27 and 25, who were arrested on suspicion of harassment, causing malicious damage to property, participating in a criminal organization and conspiracy to commit a crime. , offenses allegedly committed on Sunday night, in the area of ​​the Deryneia roadblock.

Information from KYPE states that the Police investigations into the incidents are continuing and the members of the investigative team of TAE Famagusta, are evaluating testimonies and visual material from closed surveillance circuits in the area, in order to locate people who were allegedly involved in the incidents.

For the case it is not excluded that in the next few hours there will be other arrests.

Meanwhile, the police examinations show that several of the hooded men who were fans of a football team, before reaching the Deryneia roadblock, had gathered in a union of the free Province of Famagusta and organized their steps.

Yesterday, four persons, aged 41, 22, 29 and 21, who were arrested, were placed under two-day detention following a decree of the Famagusta District Court.

Two other people, aged 27 and 25, were detained for three days on Tuesday for the same case.

The detention orders of the six persons expire tomorrow and the Police are expected to present them before the District Court of Famagusta and to proceed with the registration of a case against them.

It is recalled that around 7.20 on Sunday night, about 250 people approached the Deryneia roadblock, having their faces covered with hoods and carrying bats.

The suspects expressed their intention to move through the roadblock to the dead zone to protest the recent opening of an area of ​​Varosia.

Those who gathered after breaking the police cordon and opening the security fence of the roadblock, moved to the dead zone, reaching the last beam of the roadblock, where they remained for about 15 minutes, shouting slogans and using sparklers.

The protesters left the Deryneia roadblock around 8 pm.

Examinations carried out at the scene revealed that during the event, two safety beams and two closed-circuit surveillance cameras of the roadblock were damaged.

The case is being examined by the Famagusta Police Department.
