Nikos Lillis responds to today's announcement of POVEK through which the concerns from the opening of the Deryneia roadblock are expressed through a post.

The former Deputy Mayor of Deryneia wonders through his post on the Sewer Media Network, whether the viability of the stores depends on the opening of the roadblocks. He cites, as an example, that according to JCC measurements, the money spent by Turkish Cypriots in the free areas is more than what the Greek Cypriots spend in the occupied areas.

Read the post as it is:

Dear POVEK, According to your (and ours, due to the fact that we are also your members) market research, based on the results of the statistical service of the Statistical Service in 2005, nowhere is it mentioned that the problems and the viability of today's small and medium companies, have to do with the opening of roadblocks.

Where do you draw these conclusions and make announcements?

On the other hand, the only measurable element that exists before us today is the JCC measurements, which say that the money spent by the Turkish Cypriots in the free areas is more than what the Greek Cypriots spend in the occupied areas.

Also, gentlemen of POVEK, mention in point 4 of the first Pillar of your conclusions: "To create the framework and conditions for the cooperation between Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot companies, the cooperation between professional organizations, the promotion of international and European collaborations". In other words, how will "… the framework and conditions for cooperation γίνει" be done, through IVF? Ms. Moleski is concerned that "… With the Deryneia roadblock in operation, tourists will be in occupied Famagusta in 15-20 minutes from Protaras and in 20-30 minutes from Ayia Napa. For coffee, for food, for shopping »."

It says nothing about the all-inclusives that strangle small and medium-sized businesses but also about the organized excursions organized by those who are worried about the flow of tourists to the occupied areas! Otherwise, it is the fault of opening another roadblock.

Ms. Moleski and POVEK are concerned about the spreads and the reasons why tourists go (and record them) to the occupied areas.

Once you know the reasons, solve the problem. The problem still exists now that the roadblock of Deryneia is not open. I think the positions are based on a policy of consolidating the consciousness of separation and long-term struggle.

THE REAL GROWTH OF OUR ECONOMY WILL COME ONLY THROUGH THE CONSOLIDATION OF THE COOPERATION OF THE TWO COMMUNITIES, THE ESTABLISHMENT OF SECURITY AND SECURITY.

Any stay of the current situation translates into economic competition, insecurity and, finally, ignition. ”
