A new case of driving a vehicle under the influence of drugs is being investigated by the Police.
Around 11.50 yesterday at noon, members of the Famagusta Traffic Police stopped for inspection a car driven by a 22-year-old on the road Paralimni - Ayia Napa. After during the traffic control suspicions were raised that the 22-year-old driver was under the influence of drugs, the members of the Traffic Police subjected him to a preliminary drug test, with a positive result.
Relevant samples were taken from the 22-year-old for a final driving test under the influence of drugs, with the Paralimni Police Station investigating the case.
A 19-year-old driver of a vehicle in Larnaca was also reported to have committed serious traffic violations last night.
Shortly after 10.30 on Wednesday night, members of the Larnaca Traffic Police located the 19-year-old, driving a car on Spyros Kyprianou Avenue, at a speed of 97 kilometers, instead of 50, which is the set limit. The 19-year-old failed to stop his car, at the signal given to him by the members of the Traffic Police, and tried to escape control, driving recklessly and dangerously. Traffic members who noticed the car, called his driver to stop for a check, however he escaped, also driving recklessly and dangerously and violating red traffic lights.
After locating him last night, the 19-year-old confessed to the traffic investigators that he committed the traffic violations, on Saturday night.
