The District Court of Famagusta set today April 18 for a 47-year-old woman to answer charges related to the intentional theft of material means of payment other than cash, i.e. an amount of 250 euros, from pay safe cards, crimes committed in four different cases last May, in the province of Famagusta.

As stated by Steve Theodoulou, press representative of the Famagusta Police Department, the 47-year-old woman was arrested yesterday, Wednesday, March 27, "after she was wanted for facilitating the investigations related to investigated cases of theft committed between the dates 20-22 May 2023 in the province of Famagusta. In particular, the 47-year-old appears to have visited four different booths in the Communities of Liopetriou, Xylofagos, Xylotymbos and in Ayia Napa, where she fraudulently managed to extract the total amount of 250 euros.

In particular, "the 47-year-old woman appears to have visited the specific kiosks, where she purportedly purchased products, then approached the cashier and asked the employees to issue her pay safe cards. In one case the suspect managed to secure the specific card worth 100 euros and in the other three 50 euros".
As Mr. Theodoulou said, "the woman was allegedly driving in all cases, with a specific vehicle and her photos were published in the press, as a result of which her details were secured and a judicial arrest warrant was issued against her. Using the same method of action, the woman seems to have withdrawn sums of money with pay safe cards from kiosks in Limassol and Larnaca."

He added that "the 47-year-old presented herself today before the Famagusta District Court where criminal cases were registered against her for the crime of theft. The Court set April 18 to answer the charges against her, while she was served with the indictments of the provinces of Limassol and Larnaca in order to appear in the respective District Courts".

The 47-year-old was released after signing a cash guarantee of five thousand euros.

The case is being investigated by the Famagusta Police Department.
