The Famagusta Association of Leisure Center Owners (SIKAA) calls on the government to speed up the vaccination program for the population of Cyprus so that the country can be a safe tourist destination.
In a written announcement, the Association states that "it participates in all consultations with the competent Ministries and Bodies regarding the support measures of the sector but also for the protocol of operation of the leisure centers. "The time when the protocol for the reopening of the leisure centers was announced, as well as some ambiguities it contains, did not leave room for many companies to reopen immediately".
He adds that "the current protocol is not ideal for the operation of the leisure center industry, since too many companies are practically unable to operate, either due to lack of outdoor space or due to financial difficulties. At the same time, however, SIKAA will continue the effort and consultations with those in charge, for the opening of all types of leisure centers in all areas and for corrections and gradual relaxations in the protocol ".
Regarding the epidemiological picture of Cyprus, the Association states that "this is critical for the upcoming tourist season. The epidemiological picture includes both the number of cases and the percentage of vaccination coverage of the population ".
SIKAA "calls on all companies, employees and in general all citizens to implement the measures and protocols in force, despite the fatigue and frustration caused by the pandemic and its consequences. We also call on the government to find ways to speed up the country's vaccination program, so that Cyprus and its citizens can get rid of the pandemic and our island can be a safe tourist destination.
