The District Court of Famagusta ordered on Friday the seven-day detention of a 40-year-old man, who was arrested yesterday by the Police for possession of 7,5 kilograms of cannabis.
As part of the investigation and evaluation of evidence, members of YKAN (Famagusta branch) stopped a car driven by the 40-year-old, a resident of Famagusta province, last night for a check.
According to the Police, during the investigation that followed, a small amount of cannabis was found in his possession and he was arrested for an unprovoked crime.
A search followed at his home where 12 packages containing a total of 7,5 kilograms of cannabis were found.
The 40-year-old was taken into custody while YKAN (Famagusta branch) continues the examinations.
