The East Safari Rally was completed with great success on Saturday and Sunday in the province of Famagusta.
This is the first race on the calendar of the Pancyprian rally car championship and was organized by the Famagusta District Friends of the Car Club.
According to the Chief of the race, George Rousso, the race was completed with great success, as in the two sets of special routes, both during the day and during the night, there was a large attendance, while from a competitive point of view, it was a spectacular and very fast race.
The program included 6 special routes every day, 3 during the night and three night routes to Sotira, Agia Thekla, Frenaros, Avgorou, Xylofagou, Ormidia, Paralimni and Cape Greco.
In the competition part, a total of 23 of the 31 crews finished.
The winner of the rally is Simos Galatariotis with a Skoda R5 and co-driver Antonis Ioannou. Alexandros Tsouloftas and Antonis Chrysostomou with Citroen DS3 R5 were second and Costas Zenonos and Fanos Christofi with Mitsubishi Lancero Evolution IX finished in third place.
From the crews of the province of Famagusta, Christos Limniotis managed to finish with a Subaru impreza, accompanied by the popular actor Michalis Sophocleous in 10th place and the brothers Stefanos and Dimitris Stafanou in 14th place.
