The District Coordinating Committee of Students (ESEM) of Famagusta expresses its strong reaction to the incidents that occurred on Monday (15/11/2021) during an anti-occupation event for the black anniversary of the proclamation of the pseudo-state in Frenaros.
In the announcement, ESEM Famagusta strongly condemns the attempt of extreme right and fascist groups, as reported, to disperse the event, while as stated in the announcement, the attack was deliberately carried out by a group of students who disagreed with the democratically voted framework of students. According to the announcement of ESEM Famagusta, during the event, students and extracurriculars, with insignia and T-shirts of ELAM and other far-right groups, climbed on the roof of the amphitheater where the event took place, shouting nationalist slogans and cursing students who swear while they proceeded to throw objects such as e.g. bottles, while flares were lit. At the same time, they demand the exemplary punishment of the people who, as mentioned, tried to tarnish the event.

"Attack by fascists on the event of ESEM Famagusta
As ESEM Famagusta, we strongly condemn the attempt of the extreme right and fascist groups to disperse the current event of ESEM.
A portion of students, as well as older people, consciously attacked today's event of PSEM and ESEM in Famagusta, because they disagreed with the democratically voted framework of students.
Specifically, during the event, students and extracurriculars, with insignia and T-shirts of ELAM and other far-right groups, climbed on the roof of the amphitheater where the event took place, shouting nationalist slogans and vulgarly cursing the students who participated in the event. e.g. bottles, while they also lit flares, endangering the physical integrity of the rest of our classmates.
ELAM and other extreme right-wingers carried out a fascist attack, because they disagreed with the content of the event! Confirming in the worst possible way that they are exactly FASCIST groups and organizations.
As ESEM Famagusta, we will take the necessary steps to punish, for example, those who tried to tarnish today's event and endanger our classmates.
As the elected body of the students of our province, we will continue the struggle for the reunification of our people and our place, and the isolation of such far-right - nationalist - fascist perceptions from our schools.
