George Varnava announced his withdrawal as Coordinator of the ballot of EDEK in the province of Famagusta for the upcoming parliamentary elections. According to him, his withdrawal was a consequence of the developments that took place in the last month to differentiate the ballot and the way the whole process was handled.
His announcement is as follows:
"A few months ago, I accepted a proposal from executives of the District Organization EDEK Famagusta to take over as coordinator of the District Electoral Staff for the upcoming 2021 Parliamentary Elections.
With respect to these executives, for the good of the Provincial Organization and the Movement in general, I took on the role of coordinator.
In full cooperation with the District Election Staff and the close associates of the President, on November 24, 2020 we completed the preparation of the ballot paper of the Famagusta District, which consists of party executives, executives from the Citizens' Alliance, as well as widely Society.
The competitors of the District Electoral Staff and I personally, supported by all the candidates, set before us with determination the goal for the best result and the election of a Parliamentary seat in our Province.
However, the developments that took place in the last month for the differentiation of the ballot, the way of handling the whole process, my personal dignity, my respect for all the people who accepted my proposal to be candidates on the ballot of KS. EDEK Famagusta, leave me no room to continue playing the role of coordinator of the District Staff.
For all the above reasons, I am resigning from the position of EU Coordinator. Staff in Famagusta, an act which will facilitate the President of the Movement, as well as his associates to take any action they deem to be for the benefit of the Movement.
I want to thank the EU competitors. Staff, with whom I collaborated all these months, as well as all those who accepted to be candidates in the upcoming Parliamentary Elections of 2021, with the ballot of EDEK Famagusta.
