With all the splendor the province of Famagusta celebrated the National Anniversary of the declaration of the National Liberation Struggle of Greece against the Ottoman yoke.

The provincial parade of Famagusta took place at 11 am along the 1st of April avenue with the participation of military units, public and private schools, scouts, catechetical synagogues and unions as well as banners of the municipalities and communities of the free and occupied province of Famagusta.

During this year, the participation for the first time of a group of military reservists stood out, who paraded with perfect formation and steady pace.

During the parade, the Symphonic Band "Armonia" of the Municipality of Paralimni played, while during its duration the bands of catechetical synagogues, scouts and associations of the province of Famagusta played.

The salute of the parade was received together with the Mayor of Paralimni Mr. Theodoros Pyrillis and the Metropolitan of Constantia and Famagusta Vasilios, the Deputy Minister to the President Irini Piki who represented the President of the Republic of Cyprus in the celebrations of the province of Famagusta.

The greeting was also received, among others, by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. Kostas Koumis, as well as members of parliament, mayors, community leaders, members of municipal councils, Presidents and members of School Boards and directors of public and private schools in the province.

The announcers of the parade, which was coordinated by the Paralimni High School as the Coordinating School in the year 2024, were Ms. Andriani Modestou Paraskeva, B.D. (by assignment) and Mrs. Maria Fotiou Chatziprodromou, Philologists of the Lyceum of Paralimni.
Previously, a Solemn Doxology was held at the Metropolitan Church of Agios Georgios Paralimni, presided over by Metropolitan Basil of Constantia and Famagusta.

The Principal of the Lyceum of Paralimni, Mr. Adamos Sergiou, delivered the eulogy of the day.
This was followed by the laying of wreaths at the heroes' monument.

Early in the morning, a small parade was held by the Catechetical Synagogues of Agios Georgios, Agios Dimitrios and Agia Varvara of Paralimni and the 21st Sea Scout System and the 291st Air Scout System of Paralimni, who then performed together with a military parade and the Symphonic Band "Harmonia" of the Municipality of Paralimni the Eparsi Flag at the Municipal Hall of Paralimni.

In the late afternoon, a flag-raising ceremony took place.

It is noted that the Pandimos Celebration for the National Anniversaries of March 25 and April 1 will take place on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 19:30 in the Events Hall of the Paralimni Town Hall. The artistic program and curation of the event is the responsibility of the Paralimni High School.
