Projects whose total value amounts to 202 million euros, have been completed, are under construction or are being launched, in Municipalities and Communities of the free province of Famagusta, said to KYPE the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Giannis Karousos.

He added that "in all the Municipalities and Communities of the free province of Famagusta, a total of 81 projects have been completed, are under construction or have been launched, the budget of which amounts to 202 million euros, starting from the forest of Achna and reaching Protaras" . Among the projects under construction is the regeneration of the river Liopetri, the coastal front of Ayia Napa has been completed and within the next few days the restoration of the Medieval Monastery also in Ayia Napa will be completed, he noted.

Also, as he stated, "in Paralimni the construction of the 1st of April Avenue was completed, next month the construction of the building of the District Court of Famagusta is completed, the construction of the coastal front is in progress, while the renovation of Kappari Avenue was offered". He also continued, in the coming months the very important project of the road Deryneia - Sotiras will be announced, a long-awaited project by the local authorities, as it will facilitate the lives of many of our fellow citizens.

Answering a relevant question, Mr. Karousos said that "funding of 4 million euros has been secured to the local authorities, which are under the Kokkinochorion Sewerage Council (SAK), in order to pave the roads of the road network, which had been damaged. due to the construction of the sewerage system ".

He also stated that "in the coming weeks a Memorandum of Cooperation will be signed with all local authorities, to install new shelters at bus stops, so that the specific policy of the Ministry of Transport can be implemented in the free province of Famagusta. He also noted "we have helped all the Communities of the free province of Famagusta, with the execution of important projects, such as Karyon Avenue in Avgorou, the construction of sidewalks and maintenance of the road network and various other projects, the value of which exceeds 2 million euros." .

Asked about the Ayia Napa marina, the Minister of Transport replied that the marina is among the projects that started and continue with the aim of upgrading the Municipalities and Communities, but also the quality of life of both locals and foreign visitors. "In this way, we are upgrading the entire free province of Famagusta and contributing greatly to the recovery of the economy of Cyprus, which has begun after the effects it had due to the coronavirus pandemic," he concluded.
