The Parliamentary Committee on Finance gave the green light for the de-icing of a large number of positions in the public and wider public sector, in the army and agreed to fill the positions of special police officers proposed by the Council of Ministers, based on valid information of KYPE.
Specifically, the Finance Committee agreed to the de-icing with the Council of Ministers, which on March 31 approved an exception to the law prohibiting the filling of vacancies in the public sector 554 positions of first appointment in the Civil Service, 324 positions in Legal Entities under Public Law, 24 positions in Local Government Authorities and 17 positions of working personnel. It also approved the de-icing of 12 hourly paid Government Staff positions.
The relevant letter of the General Director of the Ministry of Finance was forwarded to the Parliament on April 2 and was received by the Directorate of the Parliament on April 5.
Also on April 6th, the Council of Ministers approved the exemption from the ban on filling vacancies for 103 first appointment positions in the Cyprus Army and 104 positions of special constables in the Police.
The decision of the Council of Ministers was forwarded to Parliament the same day by the Director General of the Ministry of Finance and the Finance Committee agreed to de-icing them.
The 554 positions approved by the Ministry on March 31st concern 8 positions in the Legal Service, 19 positions in the Ministry of Labor, 40 positions in the Ministry of Interior, 98 positions in the Ministry of Finance, 383 positions in the Ministry of Education, 6 positions in the Ministry of Transport.
The 324 positions approved by the Ministry on the same date concern 172 positions in the Electricity Authority, 20 positions in the Telecommunications Authority, 12 positions in the Human Resources Development Authority, 2 positions in the Office of the Commissioner for Regulation of Electronic Communications and Posts, 2 positions in the Technical Office, 1 position in the Budget Council, 4 positions in the Central Body of Equal Weight Allocation, 3 positions in the University of Cyprus, 36 positions in the Health Insurance Organization, 7 positions in the Housing Financing Organization, 8 positions in the Limassol-Amathus Sewerage Council, 3 positions in the Agohetas Sewerage Council Napas, 2 positions in the Sewerage Council of Polis Chrysochous, 1 position in the Sewerage Council of Larnaca.
Furthermore, 9 positions are in the Larnaca Water Supply Council, 3 positions in the Limassol Water Supply Council, 13 positions in the Cyprus University of Technology, 1 position in the Cyprus Radio Institute, 6 positions in the Cyprus News Agency, 5 positions in the National Stake Authority, .
From the positions concerning the Local Authorities 2 are intended for the Municipality of Agios Athanasios, 1 for the Municipality of Ayia Napa, 3 for the Municipality of Aglantzia, 1 for the Municipality of Athienou, 2 for the Municipality of Famagusta, 1 for the Municipality of Lakatamia, 7 for the Municipality of Larnaca, 2 for the Municipality of Paralimni, 1 for the Municipality of Strovolos, 1 for the Municipality of Sotiras, 1 for the Community Council of Lythrodonta, 1 for the Community Council of Pera Chorio and Nissos, 1 for the Community Council of Paramythas.
The staff positions in the Local Government Authorities are distributed, as follows: 2 in the Municipality of Latsia, 1 in the Municipality of Aglantzia, 2 in the Municipality of Paralimni, 3 in the Municipality of Ypsonas. Another 5 positions are for the Limassol Water Supply Council, 3 for the Larnaca Water Supply Council and 1 for the Nicosia Sewerage Council.
The 12 hourly wage positions relate to 10 positions in the Ministry of Agriculture, 1 position in the Ministry of Labor and 1 position in the Ministry of Education (special education).
Out of the 103 first appointment positions in the Army, 65 positions are Lieutenant positions, of which 52 will be for the appointment of hoplite graduates of Higher Military Educational Institutions of Greece and 13 for the promotion of non-commissioned officers to officers. Another 38 positions are for the rank of sergeant and relate to the appointment of hoplite graduates of the Higher Military Schools of Non-Commissioned Officers of Greece.
On the same day, the Ministry decided to unfreeze 104 positions of special constables in the Police.
The Finance Committee also agreed to the de-icing of 9 posts for the General Accountant, of which 6 are promotion posts and 3 are first-time appointments.
Furthermore, he agreed to demote a senior technical engineer position requested by the Ministry of Defense and 2 positions of first appointment shorthand and 1 promotion for Deputy Secretary of Parliamentary Committees requested by the Parliament.
On the basis of the information, the Commission also released all the items on its agenda.
