Cyprus: Over 3500 cases in 14 days - The Province with the negative first

As of January 19, 2021, 29.250 cases of the new coronavirus have been diagnosed in the Republic of Cyprus, with 177 deaths due to COVID-19 and mortality is at 0,6%.

According to National Report until January 19, 2021, published today, the cumulative impact of its 14 days COVID-19 (diagnosed cases of 14 days per 100.000 inhabitants) is 417,9.

In the last 14 days (06 -19 January 2021) 3.711 confirmed cases were recorded COVID-19. The median age of the cases COVID-19 was 39 years old, 51,5% were women (1.910), 48,4% were men (1.787) and for 4 cases (0,1%) gender was not currently available.

Based on the epidemiological history, 1,6% (58) were cases with a recent travel history, while 98,4% (3.653) were cases of domestic transmission.

On January 21, 2021, 189 people with COVID-19 were hospitalized (based on registered data). Their median age was 71 years, with 60,9% (115) involving men and 30,7% (58) cases from the province of Nicosia.

According to the registered data, 38 people were in Intensive Care Units (ICU) - the 34 people were intubated. The median age of patients COVID-19 in ICU was 67 years, while 25 cases (65,8%) involved men. A total of 34 people (63,2%) in the ICU had underlying diseases.

Regarding the epidemiological data, in the last 14 days (06 -19 January 2021) 3.711 cases have been diagnosed in the laboratory COVID-19. On January 19, the cumulative impact of 14 days COVID-19 (diagnosed cases of 14 days per 100.000 inhabitants), an indicator that reflects the percentage of active cases COVID-19 in the population (prevalence of active disease), is 417,9 per 100.000 inhabitants.

Among 3.711 cases COVID-19 diagnosed as of January 6, 2021, 51,5% are women (1.910) and 48,4% are men (1.797). For 4 cases (0,1%), gender was not currently available. By age groups, 563 infants, children and adolescents aged 0-19 years (15,2%), 2.399 adults aged 20-59 years (64,7%), 748 people aged 60 years and over (20,2%) were diagnosed, while for 1 case (0,03%) age was not currently available.

The median age of all cases COVID-19 of the last 14 days is 39 years and the median age of adults (≥ 18 years) with COVID-19 is 44 years old.

Among the cases diagnosed in the last 14 days, 1.346 (36,3%) had a place of residence in the province of Limassol, 1.210 (32,6%) in the province of Nicosia, 715 (22,6%) in the province of Larnaca, 221 (6%) ) in the province of Paphos, 122 (3,3%) in the free area of ​​Famagusta and 97 cases (2,6%) concern British bases or residence abroad or no information was available about them.

In relation to the epidemiological history, between 6 and 19 January 2021, out of the 3.711 recorded confirmed cases COVID-19, 1,6% (58) related to cases with a recent travel history, while 98,4% (3.653) related to domestic broadcasts.

During the same period, 31,1% (1.153) did not report any symptoms at diagnosis, while 68,9% (2.558) reported at least one symptom. Also, 1.022 people with COVID-19 (27,6%) reported at least one underlying disease.

Based on the recorded data, among the individuals diagnosed with COVID-19, 177 deaths were recorded by January 21, 2021, with an underlying cause of the disease COVID-19 (mortality COVID-19: 0,6%).

Mortality COVID-19 per 100.000 population is 19,9. There were 118 deaths in men (66,7%) and 59 in women (33,3%). The median age of people with COVID-19 who lost their lives due to this disease were 82 years old.

In the province of Nicosia 60 (33,6%) deaths were reported, 56 (31,6%) in the province of Limassol, 32 (18,1%) in the province of Larnaca, 14 (7,9%) in the province of free Famagusta, 12 ( 6,8%) in the province of Paphos and 3 deaths (1,7%) concern the British bases or residence abroad or there was no information available for them.

The median time from the date of sampling to the date of death from COVID-19 it was 12 days. Based on the recorded data, among the individuals diagnosed with COVID-19, were reported, as of January 21, 2021, 213 deaths from any cause (mortality from any cause on the diagnosed cases COVID-19: 0,7%).

Mortality (deaths from any cause in people with COVID-19 per 100.000 population) is 24. There were 142 deaths in men (66,7%) and 71 in women (33,3%). The median age of people with COVID-19 who lost their lives were 82 years old.

In the province of Limassol 70 (32,9%) deaths were reported, 67 (31,5%) in the province of Nicosia, 39 (18,3%) in the province of Larnaca, 16 (7,5%) in the province of free Famagusta and in the province Paphos and 5 deaths (2,3%) related to British bases or residence abroad or no information was available. The median time from the date of sampling to the date of death from each cause in persons with COVID-19 it was 11 days.

By January 21, 2021, a total of 4,8% (1.394) of the incidents COVID-19 received hospital treatment. The median age of the treated patients is 66 years. Hospital care was mainly for men (811, 58,2%).

The median age of people who are still hospitalized (until January 21, 2021) (189) is 71 years and 60,9% (115) concerns men. 30,7% (58) concern patients from the province of Nicosia, while 125 people (68,7%) reported underlying diseases.

In total, 143 patients (10,3% of the total number of patients) were admitted to Intensive Care Units (ICU). The median age of those admitted to the ICU is 69 years. The patients in the ICU were mainly men (99, 69,2%). The median length of stay in the ICU (for all patients admitted to the ICU) is 11 days. According to the registered data, on January 21, 2021, 38 patients were in the ICU. The median age of these patients was 67 years. 65,8% (25) of the cases concerned men, while 24 people (63,2%) who were in the ICU had underlying diseases.

The number of patients currently in the ICU, according to registered data, per 100.000 inhabitants, is 4,3. Of the 143 patients admitted to the ICU, 128 (89,5%) were intubated and 34 are still intubated.

By January 21, 2021, 73,7% (21.408) of the incidents COVID-19 have recovered - 1.315 (6,1%) had a negative result in two tests after the first positive and for 20.093 (93,9%) people were released based on the new instructions.
