Nikos Mouaimis, a business consultant, who served as president of the Local Committee of DISY Paralimni, with many years of multi-faceted experience in senior management positions in financial organizations, announced his intention to run for the mayorship of Paralimni - Deryneia. In the announcement it is stated that the claim for the anointing will come through the statutory and internal party procedures of the DISY.

"Dear fellow citizens of the newly established Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia,
Friends from Acheritou, Frenaros, Deryneia and Paralimni
With full awareness of responsibility and duty, I have decided to publicly announce my intention to run for the position of Mayor of the newly established Municipality of Paralimni-Derynia. My consistency, straightness and honesty, submits to me that my interest in this position is manifested through claiming the anointing of the candidate Mayor of DISY
This decision of mine is the result of deep thought, personal reflection, as well as the exchange of opinions, concerns, and common perceptions, with friends and colleagues, from the entire spectrum of society and professions.
Local Government reform is really a big challenge.
My many years of multifaceted experience in senior management positions in financial organizations, my education, my daily contacts with our fellow citizens with whom I share the same concerns, but above all, my love for our place and our Province , I believe that they are the guarantees to support the realization of our goals and the smooth transition to the new status of the amalgamation into the new single Municipality of Paralimni-Derynia.
I will work effectively with all the Deputy Mayors of the new municipal divisions, the Municipal Councillors, the President and Members of the District Council as well as all local and social bodies.

My vision is ALL TOGETHER, with a team spirit, with constructive dialogue, with respect for every citizen, to make our new Municipality, as an economically developed and modern tourist destination, with spatial decency, but at the same time with social and ecological sensitivities, and quick reflexes to solve Citizens' everyday problems. A Municipality that will enjoy the trust of its citizens as well as those who visit it, in terms of its orderly operation, the effectiveness of its services, its integrity, its cleanliness, its commitment to upgrading the quality of life.
