The fullness of the General Hospital of Famagusta, which operates as a Reference Hospital for patients with coronavirus, was reduced to 36%, said Amalia Hatzigianni, Scientific Director of the General Hospitals of Larnaca - Famagusta to KYPE.

As Ms. Hatzigianni stated, "27 patients with coronavirus are being treated at the Reference Hospital, four of them in the MAF, because they need closer monitoring, with the fullness having been reduced to 36%".

"The youngest patient is 25 years old, the oldest 85, while the average age of patients is 63 years," he said, adding that "82% of patients treated are not vaccinated."

According to her, 9 patients with coronavirus are being treated at Larnaca Hospital, while the Eden Rehabilitation Center in Tersefanou is hosting 112 people who will remain until their complete negativity.

Answering a relevant question, Ms. Hatzigianni said that "the pleasant thing that has existed in recent days is that there is a sparse flow of admissions to public hospitals, the number of cases requiring intubation has decreased, while a small decrease is observed in the treatment of people in Intensive Care Units."

However, he assured, "the staff of the Hospital has returned from vacation, is on standby and is prepared for any eventuality and any new outbreak of Covid-19».

He added that "vaccinations in both Centers and walk-ins are continuing normally and it seems that the recent loss due to coronavirus in young people has made people aware that the only weapon against the virus is the vaccine."

Ms. Hatzigianni also noted that "everyone, vaccinated and unvaccinated, must comply with protection and hygiene measures and comply with the Protocols issued by the Ministry of Health which are made on the basis of scientific data and the instructions must be obeyed."

To another question and on the occasion of the beginning of the new school year, Ms. Hatzigianni answered that "both students and teachers, at all levels of education, should apply all the Protocols of both the Ministry of Health and the Ministry Education ".
