In his statements, Mr. Petridis stated, among other things, “thank you very much for the honor. The award and the thank you are from the state in the hotel industry itself, which contributed the most with its business risk, the risks that every entrepreneur took so that with a lot of hard work and a lot of distortions, whether they concern the regulatory framework, whether the governance framework or the challenges to competition, to be the first pillar that revived the Cypriot economy ”.

"Let us not forget where we were in 2013 and where we are today. Certainly what set this government apart is that it stood by the tourism industry. He did not have the role of supervisor and the one who will impose disciplinary on the industry but he had the role of someone who wants to help the Cypriot industry, the private sector. In this context, we had started with the instructions of the President of the Republic to try to improve things in Tourism ", he said, according to a statement of the Ministry.

He added that "I am one of those who believed that the framework of governance is outdated and anachronistic. Tourism cannot be without horizontal and broad responsibilities, without a political leader. It was not just the individuals, it was the governance framework that suffered. We needed someone who could attend the sessions of the Council of Ministers, who would inform the President of the Republic, who would have the general order, with organic and disciplinary accountability. "I am not saying that the Ministry of Tourism will resolve all issues because the Undersecretary will face many challenges, he will mainly have to fight so that mentalities change, so that we can move on to a new, more progressive era," he said. Minister.

Concluding, Mr. Petridis thanked all those who contribute to the upgrade of the quality of tourism, emphasizing that we have all the guarantees to move into a new era of development.
