A total of 36 people, 11 men, 11 women and 14 minor children, including four infants from Syria, are the refugees aboard a boat that was spotted at noon in the sea area of ​​Cape Greco in Ayia Napa.

According to the Police, shortly before two in the afternoon, the radars of the Republic detected the location of a boat with refugees sailing 14 nautical miles off Cape Greco in Ayia Napa.

The boat in question was escorted by the Akato of the Coast Guard to the Fishery Shelter of Paralimni and then to the Famagusta Police Department, where examinations are being carried out to verify the conditions under which they arrived in Cyprus.

Shortly before five o'clock in the afternoon, the boat docked at the Paralimni fishing shelter and police investigations identified 36 people from Syria, 11 men, 11 women and 14 minor children, four of whom are infants.

All were in good health, except for one pregnant woman who was taken to Famagusta General Hospital for precautionary reasons.

Among others, members of ADE Famagusta, members of the Foreigners and Immigration Service and the Civil Defense went to the area in order to assist within its capabilities, in feeding and other needs of immigrants.

The members of YAM carry out all the necessary examinations and investigations for the identification of the immigrants and then they are expected to be transferred to the Hospitality Center in Kokkinotrimithia.

It is noted that from last Friday (31/8) until today, in three cases a total of 85 illegal immigrants from Syria entered the Republic of Cyprus from Protaras, a fact that has already caused concern and concern to the Government, with the result that the Minister of Interior convened Extraordinary meeting.

A new boat with migrants is currently sailing off Cape Greco.

According to his exclusive information Famagusta.News, the Port and Maritime Police of Paralimni has already been mobilized with the aim of transporting the boat to the fishing shelter of Agios Nikolaos in Protaras.

The information also states that about 25 people are on board.

It is worth noting that this is the 3rd arrival of migrants in Famagusta in just a few days, since last Friday and Saturday, a total of 49 people arrived by boat from Syria.
