Rapid developments seem to be taking place in the issue that monopolized the interest in the previous days regarding the allegations of illegal interventions on the beaches of the Municipality of Paralimni.
After the meeting held at the Ministry of Interior under the chairmanship of Konstantinos Petridis last Monday but also after the on-site inspection carried out by the District of Famagusta in cooperation with the competent Government departments, it seems from the facts that a case has been substantiated which takes road to justice.
According to exclusive information provided by Famagusta.News, today in the early hours of April 1, the Attorney General, accompanied by members of MMAD and members of the Police, raided the home of Theodoros Pyrillis and proceeded to arrest him on a court order.
According to the information, the members of the Crime Detection Department of the Police Headquarters carried out a search in the house of the Mayor of Paralimni, when they were surprised to find a bulldozer parked in the backyard of the house, which according to the first information seems to have been used for excavations on the coastal front of Paralimni.
Theodoros Pyrillis was taken with a special guard to the Police Headquarters where he is being held until a court order is issued.
Illegal work on the island of Fig Tree Bay
According to what the case states, an aggravating factor seems to be another illegal intervention of the Mayor of Paralimni. As everything shows and according to a valid police source, late last night it seems that a digger type excavator was located on the small island of the popular Fig Tree Bay beach in Protaras. According to the information of Famagusta.News, the bulldozer had proceeded with excavations and illegal works in an attempt to create a beach on the island to create a "VIP" space to place umbrellas and sunbeds.

The trial of the case is expected to be a "fast track" process since both the Attorney General and the Minister of Interior want to send the message of impunity to the Local Government, which is in fact the commitments of Konstantinos Petridis for the cleansing of the Public Sector.
From the announcement of Pyrilli's arrest, panic seems to prevail in the ranks of the Mayors of the coastal Municipalities, since several of them state that they have "dirty their nest" regarding interventions inside the coastal front and the beach protection zone.
At the same time, environmental organizations, which the authoritative source did not want to name, seem to be organizing today a victory party for the arrest and confinement of Pyrilli inside the detention centers of the Police Headquarters.
Soon, however, statements are expected from the legal advisor of the Mayor of Paralimni, who will clarify what is happening and how the case is expected to proceed.
