In his statements, the Mayor of Paralimni, Theodoros Pyrillis, stated that "issues related to the Local Government Reform were discussed at the meeting, the final draft of the Union of Municipalities for the Reform was studied and an extensive report was made and the provisions of the Laws were examined.
Mr. Pyrillis described the discussion as "constructive" and noted that "all the provisions and powers that the new local authorities will have will be presented, which will now be small local governments." In view of this fact, each of us will now transfer this knowledge acquired today to his own Council and everyone will know what this Bill provides and what the concept of Local Government Reform means. "
Regarding the issues of the scenarios, the Mayor of Paralimni stated that "no discussion took place at the meeting, however it is an issue that will probably be discussed in a future meeting in the spirit of unity that has prevailed in the province for the last eight years." .
He also said that "the message that needs to be given is that together we have the right to express our views, we all have the right to express our views and, in the end, to uphold what needs to be done. Each Council can decide, but we must not forget that the Parliament and the political parties will have the final say. "
Answering a relevant question, Mr. Pyrillis said that "the Bill for Local Government Reform will pass the approval of the Parliament" and noted that "the Bill focuses on the citizen, the rights, the benefit and the relief of the citizen and means. For his part, the Mayor of Sotira, Georgios Takkas, said that “the Municipality takes the issue of Local Government very seriously. We must carefully study the Legislation and see the well-meaning of our citizens and soon, since we have all the data, we will make the decision in principle with whom we will unite ".
He added that "in the last seven and a half years we have all worked together for the common interest of the District and so we must respectfully continue with the rest of the Municipalities and Communities, without creating any problems.
