Three detachable classrooms were swept away by the strong winds, resulting in a significant reduction in classrooms. This fact increased the number of mobile classes to 14, ie more than 300 students at Paralimni High School are forced to move from room to room in each period in order to attend their class.

This very serious problem was discussed during the scheduled meeting that the representative of the Ministry of Education, George Skalias, had yesterday, Thursday (9/10) with the provincial committee of OELMEK, members of the Paralimni School Ephorate and the Paralimni High School Parents' Association.

According to the President of the School Ephorate of Paralimni, Solomos Konstantinou, Mr. Skalias after consultation with the Minister confirmed that by the end of January the ministry will replace the prefabricated rooms, while it will seek to supply the school with other buildings. to reduce the number of moving parts.

At the same time, Mr. Konstantinou expressed his gratitude to the technical services, which defied the holiday season and the very next day of the disasters rushed to help in various ways so that the school could reopen normally at the end of the school holiday.

There was an extensive discussion on the issue of the construction of a second High School in Paralimni, a long-standing request that will solve serious school issues forever. "All our arguments were put forward in order to convince the ministry that the construction of the school is an urgent need," said Mr. Konstantiou. He noted that on Monday a meeting is scheduled with all stakeholders in the presence of the Minister where the issue will be discussed again and then they will meet with the Mayor of Paralimni Theodoros Pyrillis.

At the same time, according to Mr. Konstantinou, details of the planned reconstruction and expansion of the school were discussed. "As it turns out, Mr. Konstantinou explained, everything will go according to schedule. That is, the competent services will proceed with the offers at the end of the month and the works will start at the beginning of the new school year with a completion time of 36 months.

According to Mr. Konstantinou, it is particularly important that the space where the new prefabricated rooms will be placed has been arranged so that the students are safe during the work and do not need to move, which will extend the work time. According to the new locations, parking will be provided to teaching staff and parents, as well as security so that the space is supervised by the competent guardian as appointed by the ministry.
