PARALIMNI 2019: EXEI THE POSITION IS RIGHTED ??
«I believe that the issues that concern us all and affect our daily lives and therefore our quality of life, are right and honest instead of discussing them and criticizing them in wells, to express them with parsimony and especially with suggestions for raising awareness of all those who have competence and power.
On the occasion of a well-meaning but very caustic message from a Cypriot friend who recently visited Paralimni and said "Dude, do you not have brooms in Paralimni? as well as the recent decision of the Municipal Council of Paralimni, to rent part of our beaches to hoteliers, I feel the need to refer to the situation that I am particularly sad and that I experience in Paralimni that I adore like all the people of Paralimni. Unfortunately, all the effort and actions of the Municipality have focused on the "improvement" of the beaches, although I am not sure that this "improvement" has been done after studies by experts and has the seal and approval of the relevant departments. By giving some people the right to rent our beaches to any of their customers and deprive them of us who belong to us is not in the direction of substantially improving the well-being of citizens and visitors. Certainly one of the obligations of the Municipality and especially of a tourist Municipality, is the preservation of the coastal front and the sea as the apple of the eye and clearly the upgrading of the tourist product is its indisputable priority but it should not be the only one as it unfortunately turns out! The Municipality is a body that has huge revenues from tourism but also from services (garbage, municipal fees, etc.) and has the exclusive obligation to dispose of them mainly for the welfare of its citizens. Primarily the cleanliness, the orderliness, the maintenance of the common areas (monuments, greenery, squares, roads, sidewalks, etc.), the service of the citizens by the services of the Municipality in the minimum time, the care of the elderly, the creation of spaces for children and young people, the support of public benefit institutions, etc. But the situation that prevails in Paralimni, the largest and richest Municipality of free Famagusta does not honor us. The photos below (they are the most painless due to publication), I believe are indicative of the mentality that prevails in the Municipality and this must change immediately with the actions of those who have been given by us the competence and power.
Dear Mayors and Municipal Councilors! We have always been very proud of Paralimni which was a pioneer in many fields. The people of Paralimni are progressive people and they want their place to move forward and high! But as if we have taken the downhill and this must stop immediately. You have the responsibility and the power to find the ways with honesty and transparency for the How-How-When-Who will act within the framework of his obligations and duties with implementation in the minimum time and not open time! The works are yours and rest assured that it will be recognized by all and I personally will be one of the first to express my congratulations to you publicly if you bring Paralimni back to the place we want and it is entitled !!
