Cases of shoplifting and theft in Deryneia, car theft, theft of agricultural oil and arson of a vehicle, are being investigated by the Famagusta TAE.

Specifically, according to information from Famagusta.News from the Police, at 2:47 this morning, it signaled an alarm in a store with building materials in Deryneia. It was found after tests that a car crashed into the front window of the store causing damage.

An eyewitness recorded the license plates of the car informing the Police. It was alleged that the car belonged to a farmer from Paralimni who complained that the car had been stolen from his plot of land in Paralimni between 5 pm on Saturday, March 17 and today at dawn, March 18. The value of the car is about a thousand euros.

Then the Police, after investigations, found that the same car was seen in another field located in the area of ​​Kappari in Paralimni. Further investigations by the Police revealed that agricultural oil worth about 400 euros was stolen from the field.

At around five in the morning, the vehicle was found burning in a rural area in Liopetri. Members of the Fire Brigade rushed to the scene and managed to put out the fire. However, the car almost completely destroyed the fire.

The scene where the car was found to be on fire was visited in the morning by men from the Police, the Fire Brigade and the Electromechanical Service, and investigations revealed that the fire was set maliciously using flammable material unknown at the present stage.

Various items were received from the scene which will be sent for scientific examinations.

The perpetrator's movements seem to have been recorded by the closed circuit of the building materials store. Police received the circuit of the store which will be examined together with systems of neighboring premises, in order to locate the driver of the stolen car.

According to Mr. Konstantinou, "the Police are investigating a case of shoplifting and theft, car theft, theft of agricultural oil and arson".
