The Ministry Interior clarifies about the projects on the beaches of Paralimni

The Ministry of Interior clarifies, however, that after the approval of the District Administration, all the works that are done on its coastal front by the local authorities, leaving, however, spikes against specific works in the Municipality of Paralimni.

"According to the provisions of the Law on the Protection of the Beach, the District Administrations, for the purpose of facilitating the work for cleaning the beaches, grant, every year and before the beginning of the summer season, a relevant permit for the removal of loose stones.

In this context, and specifically for the Municipality of Paralimni, the District Administration of Famagusta granted permission for the removal of loose stones from the beaches within the boundaries of the Municipality. The granted permit explicitly stated that it did not include rocking, nor any earthworks, even mild ones.

In the free Province of Famagusta, competent officials of the District Administration inspect the coastal front almost daily and, when they notice that works are being carried out that may violate the provisions of current legislation, they call on the person involved to terminate these works immediately.

Especially when the works that are carried out exceed the allowed ones and affect the relief of the landscape, the issue is reported to the Famagusta Police Directorate. ”

Complaints in some cases

According to the announcement, the works carried out by the Municipality of Paralimni in the area of ​​Skoutari, in front of the Malama hotel complex, also took place.

For this issue, in fact, as mentioned, a file has been formed at the Headquarters, which is handling it in consultation with the Legal Service of the Republic, for legal action. The Famagusta District Administration is also considering the possibility of taking further judicial measures. The work carried out by the Municipality of Paralimni in front of the Cavo Maris hotel complex is similarly handled, as well as those in Konnos beach.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Interior assures through its announcement that it will take, when required, all appropriate measures, including material actions or judicial measures, and request, where required, the assistance of the Police.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Interior invites the Municipality of Paralimni, as well as the other local authorities, to avoid carrying out any work on the coastal front, without obtaining in advance the required permission / approval from the relevant competent authority.
