On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Anastasiadis, inaugurated the Provincial Court of Famagusta in Paralimni.
In his greeting, the President of the Republic expressed his excitement for the inauguration of the new Courthouse of the free area of Famagusta, which, as he said, is the temporary seat before the return to the natural seat which is none other than the enslaved area of Varosia.
The operation of the new Famagusta District Court building began in September 2022 and functions as a separate Court. At this initial stage, five judges have been appointed, including an administrative President of the Court.
It is noted that at the new Court of Famagusta, all civil and criminal cases are currently being tried, except for the Criminal Court, which for the time being will be tried in Larnaca. The transfer of special jurisdiction cases (Family Court, Rent Control Court, Labor Disputes Court, Military Court) is also expected from the Larnaca Court.
