A vehicle belonging to a 54-year-old resident of Paralimni caught fire shortly after midnight while it was parked in the parking lot of an apartment building.
The scene was visited by experts from the Fire Service and investigators from the TAE Famagusta, where it was established from the tests carried out that the fire in the 54-year-old vehicle was maliciously started with the use of flammable material.
Various documents were taken from the scene and will be sent for scientific examination.
The 54-year-old gave TAE investigators several allegations which will be investigated.
Investigators' examination will also extend to seeking evidence from possible closed-circuit video surveillance in the area of the scene.
