An appeal to the Minister of Interior to intervene so that the Mayor of Paralimni implements the Law on Beach Protection and the Regulations, addresses the Pancyprian Association of Owners of Medium Water Sports - Recreation.
A written announcement of the Association states that "today, Friday 14 January, outside the Municipal Palace of Paralimni continue the protests of water sports professionals in the area of Paralimni - Protaras", after the Mayor of Paralimni Theodoros Pyrillis continues to irregular actions in relation to tendering procedures ".
The announcement also states that the Mayor of Paralimni "provocatively continues the bidding process despite the fact that hierarchical appeals of the professionals of the area are pending before the Central Beach Committee, a fact that based on the Legislation and the relevant regulations, obliges the Mayor to wait for the relevant decisions. with regard to the appeals and not to proceed to enforcement ".
It adds that "the situation created by the actions of the Mayor of Paralimni, the non-existent allegations, the arbitrary arguments and the accusations of Mr. Pyrillis against professionals in the field, lead things to a head-on collision with unpredictable consequences".
The Pancyprian Association calls on "the Minister of Interior, whom we have informed in our letter, to intervene catalytically in the whole issue by restoring the Mayor to order and implementing the Law on the Protection of the Beach and the Regulations. The Municipal Council must also meet to restore order. "
According to the announcement, "within days, the Pancyprian Committee of the Association will convene an extraordinary meeting to take a decision on the escalation of the measures and the taking of other actions".
