Representation of the Board of Directors of TEBEA met on Friday July 7, 2023 with the partners of the new Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia resulting from the reform of the local government, as part of the series of meetings it holds to discuss critical issues concerning the entire province of Famagusta.
Among other things, the developments concerning the Local Plan of Paralimni - Deryneia - Ayia Napa and the Temporary Coordination Council of Famagusta were discussed and there was an exchange of views and a review of the current situation of Tourism in the province, with an emphasis on the major problems facing the tourism product in the region . The attendees were informed about the progress of the construction projects of the Paralimni Marina and the Deryneia - Sotiras Road, as well as the various problems arising from the weaknesses of the Green Line Regulation regarding the circulation of products were discussed. Finally, the urgent need for the establishment of management committees in all the Industrial and Craft Areas of the free province of Famagusta was underlined in order to examine and resolve the various problems that arise for the owners of industrial/craft units such as for example the increase in rents etc.
The common conclusion of all those present was that despite the fact that great steps have been taken, there are still several problems that need immediate resolution, such as the upgrading of the tourist product, the strengthening and promotion of entrepreneurship, while a major thorn for the province remains the so-called brain drain, as the majority of young people from Famagusta leave the province in search of a better future in other provinces or abroad.
The chairman of the Board of Directors Mr. Savvas Kosiis reiterated TEBEA's undivided support for the requests of the local government authorities and declared TEBEA's readiness as the main representative of the entrepreneurs of the vibrant Famagusta district, to support their efforts in practice and take action to defend their interests.
The meeting took place in the context of the dynamic restart that TEVEA is attempting, conducting a round of contacts with local government authorities and other government, political and business entities, with the aim of mobilizing the entire province of Famagusta to claim equal development opportunities for the entire province. Upon completion of the contacts, TEVEA will proceed to record all the issues and problems that concern municipalities, communities, local society and businesses of our province, with the aim of promoting them to the relevant Ministries and Services for resolution.
