This project in conjunction with the opening of the Deryneia roadblock , will contribute to the vertical increase of visitors to the Municipality but also to its transformation into a center for strengthening the bi-communal contacts.

Sotira

The completion of the new cemetery last September was followed by the start of works for the reconstruction of the Municipal Stadium Sotira which will include new stands, shelter, locker rooms, official spaces, gym, new auxiliary stadium and new lighting. The inauguration of the new stadium is expected to take place in mid-January by the President of the Republic. Recently, signatures have fallen for the start of construction projects for the Sotiras Social Benefits Center, a project worth 1,5 million euros that is expected to be completed in the summer of 2019.

At the same time, Sotira utilizes the neighboring large investment of the Ayia Napa marina with the construction of the Sun City hotel in the coastal area of Agia Thekla, which is already the largest private investment in the hotel industry that has been created in Famagusta. According to Mayor Sotiras, there is already great interest from other investors for the creation of hotel units with a permit that has already been submitted for the construction of a new four-star hotel.
