Drug cases in Paralimni and Liopetri

Two people, a visitor from Sweden and an expatriate resident of Liopetri, were arrested by the Police on suspicion of drug possession.

According to the Police, shortly after four yesterday afternoon, members of YKAN investigated in Paralimni, by court order, the home of a 39-year-old man from the United Kingdom, a permanent resident of Cyprus and a 28-year-old visitor from Sweden.

During the search, about 17 grams of dry cannabis plant material was found.

The Swede, who pleaded guilty to drug possession, was arrested for a felony and remanded in custody, while the 39-year-old was questioned without revealing anything against him.

At around 19:30 last night, members of YKAN searched the home of a 53-year-old expatriate in Liopetri on the basis of a court order.

During the search, a quantity of dry cannabis plant material with a total weight of about 9,5 grams was found.

The 53-year-old was arrested and remanded in custody for a felony.

Investigating the expatriate, he made a written statement in which he admits to committing the crime.

The two drug cases are being investigated by the Famagusta branch of YKAN.
