Of historical importance for Sotira is the plan to renovate the coastal front, which was presented yesterday at a Pandemic gathering at the Municipal Theater by the design team that undertook the design.
This is a project with which the foundations are being laid for the future development of the Municipality and its coastal front.
The plan unites the neighboring development of the Agia Napa marina in the east with the river Liopetri in the west on a three-kilometer-long coastal front.
The plan includes, among other things, a pedestrian and bicycle path along the entire coastal front, an interactive learning room for marine and coastal life and a plant and bird park as the area is included as a Natura 2000 Special Protection Zone.
It also includes a park for people with disabilities, training and recreation areas and outdoor fitness equipment.
There is also a provision in the plans to protect with improvements the famous island of Agia Thekla which is in danger of corrosion, while breakwaters will be created.
Also, the renovation of the archeological site "Greek Tombs" is proposed, the creation of infrastructure for water sports and the creation of restaurants, while the focus is on the proposal to create a restaurant within the sea, which will be a unique reference point for the region.
In a public presentation of the plans on Wednesday night at the Municipal Theater of Sotira, Mayor George Takkas said that this is a project that lays the foundations for the tourist development of Sotira and the opening of new jobs, while emphasizing that there is intense for the area interest from investors, many of whom were present at yesterday's presentation.
