A road collision resulting in the death of a 23-year-old woman occurred around 11:30 on the Sotiras - Liopetrou road.
Specifically, at the time in question, a saloon vehicle driven by 23-year-old Androniki Paraskeva, with her three-year-old girl as a passenger, on the Liopetriou - Sotiras road in the direction of Sotira, under circumstances which are being investigated by the Famagusta Traffic Police, entered the oncoming traffic according to the her course, as a result of which she collided head-on with a bus which was heading in the opposite direction to her course.
As a result of the collision, the vehicle ended up in the middle of the road and the intervention of the Fire Service was needed to extricate the woman.
The woman and her child were transported by ambulance to Famagusta General Hospital in Paralimni.
The doctors on duty confirmed the death of the 23-year-old, while her 3-year-old girl is out of danger but is being held as a precaution.
As a result of the collision, the bus driver and 4 foreign passengers were slightly injured, who were also taken to the Hospital for examinations.
