Alert off Cape Greco: Three boats with migrants are trying to enter
Illegal arrival of a large number of immigrants off the coast of Famagusta province
The authorities of the Republic are on the move, after the detection of three ships in the sea area off Cabo Greco, in the province of Famagusta, in which a number of illegal immigrants appear to be on board.
Information from KYPE states that the first vessel was detected by the radars of the Port and Maritime Police around 15.00 on Wednesday. A member of the Port and Maritime Police went to the area and half an hour later the boat was safely brought to the marina of Ayia Napa.
There, the details of the 19 passengers who are already on their way to the "Pournara" Temporary Accommodation Center in Kokkinotrimithia were recorded.
The same information states that the second vessel is located just outside of Cabo Greco and according to preliminary estimates more than 100 people are on board. A Port and Maritime Police vessel is expected to approach the boat in order to take it to the Ayia Napa marina to record the details of the passengers, who will then be transferred to "Pournara".
As for the third boat, also in the maritime area of Cabo Greco, it is expected to be escorted by a vessel of the Port and Maritime Police, to the marina of Ayia Napa around 23.00 at night, with the first estimates talking about 70 people on board. It is expected that upon their arrival on land, their details will be recorded and they will be taken to "Pournara" in Kokkinotrimithia.
