Meetings with Mayors and tourism agents of Lebanon are carried out by the mission of the Tourism Development and Promotion Company of the Province of Famagusta, which has been in the country since last night.
A written statement from the Municipality of Ayia Napa states that "Mayor Giannis Karousos had a meeting today with the Mayor of the historic Lebanese city of Bybos Wissam Zaarour". This city is one of the top tourist destinations in the country ".
During the meeting, the two Mayors "had the opportunity to discuss extensively common issues that concern the two cities, while considering the prospects of closer cooperation."
According to the announcement, the Mayor of Ayia Napa stated after the meeting that "the promotion of city diplomacy is a priority for us, as it functions as an efficient way of gaining common benefit for the connected cities".
Together with the city of Byblos, he added, "we have already submitted a proposal to secure diversified European funding, while discussions on joint cultural actions are already under way."
As he said, "that the history of this city, its upgraded tourism product, its geographical proximity, but also the satisfactory air connection with Cyprus, are key elements that make us optimistic about the success of this cooperation".
The historical and cultural ties between the two countries are such, he added, "allowing us to feel extremely familiar", expressing gratitude for the hospitality to the Mayor of Byvlos, whom he invited "to visit Ayia Napa as soon as possible".

In addition, a statement from PASYXE Famagusta states that "the mission, which consists of the Mayors of Paralimni, Ayia Napa and Sotiras, the President of PASYXE Famagusta, the Director of the Tourism Development and Promotion Company of Famagusta will meet more by 70 Lebanese tour operators ".
The purpose of the visit and the meetings of the mission is to present the province of Famagusta as a tourist destination. The President of PASYXE Famagusta Theodoros Takkas stated that the purpose is to operate in a market that is very close to Cyprus, there are direct flights from Larnaca airport and there is room for development and strengthening.
During the two-day visit, the tourist agents of the province of Famagusta "will have a lunch with the Lebanese tour operators, during which they will present, among other things, the upgrades that have taken place in recent years in hotel units, major projects such as Ayia Napa marinas and , as well as other infrastructure ".
According to the announcement, a seminar was held at the Hilton Habtoor Grand Hotel in the afternoon, during which the province of Famagusta was presented as a tourist destination but also as a wedding destination.
