A meeting of the AKEL delegation was held yesterday, headed by G.G. of the Party, Stefanos Stefanou with a delegation of the Famagusta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBEA) - Famagusta Tourism Commercial Industrial Company TEBEA.

In a statement, AKEL states that the meeting discussed issues of concern to the Chamber and the tourism industry, mainly the absence of a local plan for Paralimni-Agia Napa-Derynia, the issue of seasonality and broader issues of development policy.

From the side of EBEA-TEBEA, the issue of the need to develop university education in the free area of ​​Famagusta and the issue of the serious understaffing of the state services operating in the free area of ​​Famagusta as well as the problems arising in relation to the regulation of the green line were also raised.

According to the announcement, AKEL presented the positions and initiatives it undertakes for all issues related to the development of the region. A common concern and finding remains the fact that the city of Famagusta remains under occupation and constitutes, among others, an obstacle to the development of the Famagusta region.

The meeting was attended on behalf of AKEL by the District Secretary of AKEL Famagusta, Chrysanthos Zannettos and the MPs of AKEL Famagusta Giannakis Gavriil and Giorgos Koukoumas.
